He was baptized on 4 August 1825 at Great Shelford, Cambridgeshire, England.2,3 He was the son of Stephen Dean and Sarah Fletton.2 He married Louisa Pettit, daughter of Thomas Pettit and Elizabeth Gifford, on 26 July 1851 at All Saints, Little Shelford, Cambridgeshire, England.4 He immigrated on 18 November 1854 to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, with Louisa Pettit, Louisa Dean and Stephen Dean aboard the Kate.5 He died on 13 February 1901 at Adelong, New South Wales, Australia, at age 75.6
