She had been failing since Christmas and for the past month had been confined to her bed. Death came rather suddenly about 7 o'clock from heart weakness. The late Mrs. Young was 81 years of age and was born in Kent England, and in 1846 left in the sailing ship "Sickey" (sic) for Tasmania where, at the age of 17 she was married. In 1860 Mr. & Mrs. Young came to Victoria and he secured employment in the railways, going to Geelong, Beechworth and Bowmans Forest in turn. When he retired from the railways he went on the land at Carboor, where he remained until 21 years back when the family came to Wangaratta to live. In 1917 Mr. & Mrs. Young celebrated their diamond wedding. In January 1920 Mr. Young died at the age of 86 years and since then Mrs. Young has been cared for by her daughter Miss May Young. She retained the full use of her faculties up till the last. Mrs. Young who possessed a cheerful personality, was respected and esteemed by a large circle of friends. She leaves a family of 10 viz. Messrs. D J Northcote, Alex, South Africa, A E Brunswick, A L North Carlton, H L Young Geelong, Mrs. E Hill (Dockers) Mrs. J Thorn (Dandenong) T Bould, H. Morrell and Miss May Young (Wangaratta). She also leaves 33 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren while a brother Mr. W Raines lives at Carlton. The funeral took place Monday afternoon.
