Ocean Theme ATC - After Hiroshige and Hokusai

Like writers of haiku, these artists were interested in capturing the moment. I have always been intimidated by the very thought of trying to draw water. By using their work as references, I have not followed their philosophy, however I would like to now go and look at water and try to use the techniques that I have learnt from this exercise to try my own original pieces. Maybe I will wait, though, until the weather gets to be a bit warmer. It will be spring soon.

I love your paintings. I had a huge print of the middle "wave" in my bathroom for many years and when we moved couldn't find anyplace to put it. What a great idea to work from them - water also intimidates me.

I saw an exhibit of these at the National Art Gallery in Canberra a few years back - they are wonderful!
I love the vivid colours!! Lucky recipient!

Beautiful work. I especially love the middle one, and I'm kinda fond of the last one too. Your watercolour work goes from strength to strength, you look very comfortable with this style. Great project!

I love these as a series. Wonderfully simple, rich colors and contrast.

What a good concept for this ATC theme - and you drew them so beautifully, too!
