Rested, I tackled the second day of my life drawing workshop with comfy shoes, a bottle of water and a stool to sit on. The tutor was not impressed but I did not want to end up with the ache I had in my back at the end of the first day.

We covered lots of topics like perspective, the geometric composition of the human body, and arms and hands. The poor model ended up with whiteboard marker all over her arms where the tutor was demonstrating some of his points.

We spent the lunch break discussing where was the best place to start a figure drawing. It seemed that most of us began with the head, which led to legs and feet that were too small due to lack of space.

Most of the stuff I produced was very disappointing. I either had the torso too long or the head too small or too big. The tutor kept telling me to make the hands and feet bigger ... bigger. I have been doing them too small because I was hiding my inability to draw them at all.

With 20 minutes to go he folded our long suffering model up into this complicated pose and told us to do it quickly and get it right. Well ... look at me! I CAN DRAW HANDS TOO!
